Jejune Baboon
Every day I watch you grow a little bit older
Every day I lean a little bit on your shoulder
I laugh when you complain about being skinny as a twig
And I smile when you dream so big
You can be happy even though you have no car
Because you can feel loved without traveling far
I can never think of the right thing to say
To tell you that you're going to be ok
Even though you have reason to grieve
You're stronger than most people believe
I want you to remember when you get a car some day
And you decide you want to drive away
Even though I won't show much concern
I'll be waiting here when you return
