What The Four Letter Word

I can cut myself and bleed
Deprive myself of the sleep I need
And when my body quits I'll just struggle on
Until none of me is left and I'm gone

But I don't know how to deal with this
I never knew how much I'd miss
The smell of her hair or the feel of her kiss
I never knew I felt such bliss

There were tears behind my eyes
And also behind her two tiny skies
But it's only because we tried
That neither of us cried

Because on the inside
Part of both of us died
Then she went and lied
And ran away to hide

I thought I was prepared
But my judgement was impaired
Like her I was really just scared
Because I actually cared

I guess I'm just really not quite sure
That I'm ever going to find another one quite like her
The only thing that bothers me is I can't move along
Until she tells me just what went wrong

There's still a secret halo up above her
Even though things turned out this way in the end
I guess I've lost a lover
I hope I haven't lost a friend
