Town and Country Equestrian Training Center
I learned so many things at this stable. I worked here every summer for ten years, starting when I was thirteen years old. I gave horseback riding lessons, was a camp counselor, and eventually ran the day camp. Louis Shapleigh owned this place. By the sixth year people were calling me "Little Louise" because she had rubbed off on me so much. She gave me some of the best advice and taught me to be a good worker and a strong leader. I will never forget what she told me once:
"If I can give you one piece of advice, it would be two things: Write everything down, no matter how trivial you think to information might be. You never know when you'll need it again. And secondly, never give up hope. Things may be going all wrong and you may be at the end of your rope. But you must never give up hope. It will be alright."
Thank you, Louise. I don't know what I would have done without you.
