"Together"

I wrote this poem on the one month anniversary of dating Jon. As I re-read this poem after so many years, I realize that I still feel this way about him. He and I go together so simply yet perfectly. I love how this poem rhymes. It almost makes me laugh.
It definitely makes me smile.

October 5, 1993

I am an idiot and you are a hypocrite
But together we tell them we're smart.

You are mischieviant and I am a deviant
And together they tell us, "Don't start!"

I am sassy and you are quite nasty
And together we're rude as can be.

You're never violent and I can be silent
And together we mostly drink coffee.

I'm in the sky and you know why
But together no one else can make sense.

You know what to do and I follow your cue
And together we're very intense!
