"What We Done"

There's a movie I saw once that had a partial of one of the lines written here: 'What we done'. The line from the movie was 'What you done'. I could see this whole story forming about this mother who tries to protect her son from the horrors of growing up in a small town. His only friends are thugs and drug addicts. He's learning to steal cars. It would have made a good story if I'd really let it get out of hand. I like the last stanza the best.
October 5, 1993

"Come here, my dear,
I'll give you a lesson.
Don't fear, my dear,
It's only a short one.
Sit near, my dear,
To the fire and listen.
Yes, hear, my dear,
And know what you've done."

"Mother, my sweet,
I really must argue.
Mother, my sweet,
I don't need to heed you.
Mother, my sweet,
It's a thing I must go through.
Oh, Mother, my sweet,
Crazy thoughts overtake you."

"But in the end, child,
There's nowhere to run.
In the end, child,
Is the end of all fun.
In the end, child,
Sins wear you like a ton.
For in the end, child,
We all know what we done."
