"The Midnight House"

The guys in "Black Annie" had a hard driving song all planned out. They had a slower, more plodding verse and an uptempo chorus. It was different and I couldn't find anything in my books to go with it. So I had to write something. I got the idea from the book I was reading at the time by Ray Bradbury called The Martian Chronicle. Great book! Lots of inspiration there. Anyway, the poem, and in turn the song, turned out really well.

Ever since the ball burned to death
We all live in the midnight house
You and us and we; all of everyone
We all live in the midninght house

Lying on the floor of red vapor gas
We all rest in the midnight house
You and is and we; all of everyone
We all wake in the midnight house

Walls that glow with our minds command
We all control the midnight house
Love is death and sleep is death's sister
We all decay in the midnight house

Now mist carries bodies throught the star roof
We all die in the midnight house
You and us and we; all of everyone
We all live in the midnight house
We all die in the midnight house
