The band was first formed around thanksgiving 2001. The idea had been floating for a while between Keith, Bill and RT, and we finally decided to start the band, and "Gravediggers" was born. We still needed a drummer though, and another guitarist and Keith went looking for both.
We started on our first two songs "Destruction" and "Pain" and decided on "Shallow Graves" for our first album. then we found out a band already had the name Gravediggers and we decided to change it.
Adam was already a friend of the band, and after Keith heard him play, he joined as our drummer. Shortly after that, Mike Rivera came by for a quick audition, and after a great rendition of Led Zepelin's Stairway to Heaven, the band took him in.
We finally decided on our new band name "The Age of Death" shortly before christmas.
We began work on our third song "Burial of the Cow", which would be the first we finished. By May 2002 we had begun working on the rest of our first album.
Due to complications at the end of 2002 and the beginning of 2003, founding members RT and Bill were forced to consider the structure of the band. It was decided Mike had to leave for the good of the band.
Early 2004 we decided to change our entire music model, and add a second bassist, allowing more complex bass lines and rhythms, and Kevin joined the band, completing our current line up.
We're now getting ready to record our first full album, some time during the summer of '04.
