Hey!

Trees
Reaching up to the heavens,
with a longing greater than any living being,
the color a deep earthy green.
Leaves curved perfectly like raindrops,
falling from gray fluffy clouds,
grace long brown branches.
A trunk that is wider
than any human could reach around,
holds up the body of the tree,
with grace and wisdom.
Roots stem from the trunk and stretch,
deep into the fire of the earth.
Into the bugs and animal homes,
into the deep brown dirt.
Strong, beautiful, and huge,
seeming so far away from human problems,
trials, tribulations,
putting this in perspective.
A huge wise ancient being,
in a world of frivolous pleasures

Friends
Eyes of blue,
and green,
and brown,
skipping all around the town.
Hair of black,
browns, blondes
and reds,
we’d put together our little heads.
We’d talk of things
like dolls and bears,
like slides and swings
and who went wheres.
We’d laugh and grin,
smiling faces,
we’d fight and win,
and go all places.
We were small,
but together,
one and all,
we would weather,
happiness and pain.
Throughout it all,
sadness and gain
we’d try not to fall.
We wouldn’t cry
if we fought with a brother
or lost a guy
for we had each other.

Life
I cry.
I sob.
I weep.
I am hungry.
I am poor.
I am brokenhearted.
Trials, tribulations
obstacles I encounter.
But life is a game,
and as in all games,
sometimes you are unlucky,
sometimes you are not.
Sometimes you roll
Doubles, three times,
in a row,
go to Jail,
do not pass go.
But sometimes you,
get Park Place and Boardwalk,
and become rich and famous,
putting hotels and houses,
everywhere.
And that is life,
bad times will end,
good times will roll around again.
You must have faith,
that good will come again.
You must be strong,
and work for better times.
You must try to be happy,
although you are sad,
and one day you will discover,
you truly are happy.
and on that day,
you will have the strength,
to truly smile.

Imagination
I see a lady in the train
Looking out at the rain
Hair of red and eyes of blue
She’s longing but for what or who
I imagine she lives in a small country house
With no company but one small mouse
Or perhaps a mansion is her abode
Perhaps she has servants and a butler called Toad
Maybe she’s headed to visit a brother
Who she hasn’t seen since they lived with her mother
Perhaps a long lost love is whom she seeks
Is that why there is a blush on her pale cheeks?
Maybe she’s a princess from a land far away
Maybe she’s headed home today
Or maybe she’s trapped and yearns for travel afar
To see the Eiffel Tower and animals in tar
As I look at her I wonder this
But it is her own business
So I look away, wondering who
Is this lady here with the eyes of blue
But I can’t look for long because I’ve seen
A man with eyes of a brilliant green
Where is he going, I say just to me
And my imagination again flows out to the sea
Watching the people I weave their stories with care
For there is one thing that they truly all share
They are travelers in body and soul
And I muse on all this as I hear the train roll

Sounds of the Train
Whoosh, the wind willows my hair and
Vroom, I know the train is coming. I brace myself as
Screech, it pulls slowly into the station and
Click, the doors open one by one. Then I move aside as
Bump, a man drops a suitcase onto the platform and then
Glide, people flow out of the train smoothly as a dance and
Shove, into the train I go fighting others to be first until
Sigh, I just miss a seat and grab a sleek silver bar pushing myself into a corner while
Shove, people whir past me to get a hold looking quickly for a seat until
Glide, everyone is settled and silence falls on the train as
Bump, suitcases and backpacks fall onto the floor around me and
Click, the doors close behind me, one by one. Then
Screech, the train is off again, filled with people
Vroom, people traveling to destinations and places unknown. And then
Whoosh, the wind willows my hair and I close my eyes and listen to the sounds of the train
