Stacies nerves were driving her crazy. She hasn't seen Jackie since the day before the wedding. She stood looking at herself in the mirror smoothing it out again and again. "Babe, it looks fine, if you do that anymore, there won't be a dress." Jessica said placing her flower thigh length veil on top of her head. She pinned it in place."I love how your braid is done." she said tugging on her bottom length locks. The whole flower thing weaved in with both of your favorite colors make it look excellent."
All Stacie did was nood her head."Girl, don't clam up now. All your EMS friends, regular friends and some family members are out there."
"Girl, don't tell me that cause it isn't helping."
"I know, it was supposed to be funny."
"Yeah, well it wasn't."
Jessica looked at her watch. They still had about half and hour to go. She knew Stacie would be on edge the whole time. The knock on the door came suddenly. "Can I come in?" Chip asked. Jessica looked at Stacie who shook her head.
"Yes! Stace I will be back in a few."
"So, are you excited?"
"Yes, but I'm also nervous as hell."
"That's understandable. You look great by the way. I can't wait until you see Jack, she looks great. Of course, she had a great stylish person help her out."
She slapped him, "Right man, right."
"Listen, I just want to thank you for taking the time to listen to me because I have never seen sis so happy before, and I know that you are the only thing that makes her happy, aside from the rescue squad I'm sure." he got another laugh out of that line. "But I guess the rescue squad makes the both of you happy."
She shook her head,"Of course, I loved it because I work with her, and I save people, but I can't credit the squad for hooking us up."
"I know that."
"But I am happy that I did listen to you too." he smiled she smiled.
"Well sister in law," he said hugging her, "I better get back to Jack, she'll wonder what the hell I'm really doing."
Stacies nerves got worse with each step she took down the isle. She took in the site in front of her. Jackie was wearing a nice black tux. When she approached the altar, Jackie smiled, "You look beautiful." she mouthed.
"Thanks." she whispered back.
After the ceremony, everyone headed to the reception hall. After dinner came the traditonal dancing, and social. Jackie and Stacie talked to Jessica and asked her to cover for them, saying they had a call so they could slip away easily withouth anyone really saying anything.
Once they were at home, their wedding clothes were removed and replaced with their naked bodies. The sheets were wet and twisted with passion as they pleasured eachother again and again. They laid next to eachother to relax when their call beepers came to life."Man, I can't even enjoy sex as a married person anymore." Jackie said bluntly.
One Month Later
"Jackie."Stacie said with her arm around her.
"What?"
"Do you want kids?"
"I wouldn't mind kids, why?"
"Because, I want a kid."
"Are you serious?" she asked her eyes wide.
"Of course, my biological clock is ticking. I want a baby. Our baby."
"Well, we are going to have to find out how we can do this." she said.
After work, Stacie came home while Jackie went to the doctor. She was relaxing when the phone rang. She mumbled a few things and got up to answer it."Hello?"
"Stace, is Jack there?"
"No Chip."
"Ok, I'll be there in about five minutes, I got something to talk to you about."
"Ok," she said puzzled. He hung up without saying goodbye, all she could do was wait.
"I have a propsition for you." Chip said. He folded his hands in front of him on the table. Stacie's eyes widened. "Jackie called me the other day and while we were talking, she happened to bring up the fact that you two want children."he said smiling.
"Yeah so. I mean, it's not unusual for a lesbian couple to want children."
"I know that, but I came here to tell you that I can help you out with that."
"How?" she said confused.
"Well, I was thinking that I can deposit some sperm in a cup and you can just insert it into yourself. No sex, and you two get a baby that resembles the both of you."
"Does Jackie know you want to do this?"
"No. I said I would try to help you two figure a way, but this is the best way that I can think of."
She smiled,"I can't believe you are so willing to help us out. And we have nothing to give you in return."
"A niece or nephew is good enough. I will be nothing more than an uncle to the child."
"Ok, so when do I start this?"
"Anytime, you can do it now, if you want."
"Ok," she said nervously.
Stacie sat in the squad station, the rain pouring down outside. Jackie was off at a paramedic meeting since she was Vice President of the squad. Stacie's partner for the day was Kevin. All other trucks except for Kevin and Stacie's and Carol and Jim's were out.
It had been almost a month since she had started injecting the sperm into her body. And so far, nothing happened. But this time, she just might get lucky. She is a couple weeks late, but she didn't have the courage to go buy a pregnancy test. She talked Carol into it. She just had to wait until the end of the shift to do it.
The stations alarm went off. Kevin grabbed for his radio and listened to the details of the call. While walking to the truck he gave me the details. "Two vehicle MVA. They are int he T-Bone position, so I'm guessing we need the Fire Department to help free some of the victims. No word on the trauma level yet." he said jumping into the drivers side.
When Stacie and Kevin got on the scene, she was shocked at what she saw. The black car the was laying flat on the ground looked a lot like Chips car. She went to that one and motioned for Kevin to check the other one. Chip laid in the drivers seat, head back, blood gushing from a wound to the head."Oh my god,Chip." she said inducing painful stimuli to see if he would respond. He did.
"What happened?"
"You were in a car accident. You are still in the car. Can you tell me what hurts?"
"My neck, back, head and leg." he moaned.
"Ok. I need you to stay still, whatever you do,please don't move. Kev! I need a collar here!" she shouted. He raced over and handed her one. She put it on his neck.
"I have a 27 year old male in the other car, he appears to have been drinking, I'm getting a pulse, shallow breaths but he appears to be unresponsive."
"Ok, let me get him checked out and I will help you." Stacie said checking his pulse, listening to his breathing, and checking his blood pressure."Kev! I need a IV now! His BP is 90 over 60, if I don't start an IV now, he might not survive."
"Ok!" he said bringing her the IV.
"Chip, you are going to feel a prick in your arm." she said cleaning the area and slowly inserting the iv. She ran over to Kevin's side and checked the guy out.
"I need to get him some oxygen." he said running back to the truck once again. When he got back, Stacie talked to the Fire chief to watch out for the iv, she had no other choice but to start one when she did. A first responder showed up behind them and waited with them while they started cutting on the car.
Stacie's worst fears came true. Jackie pulled in, coming over to where everyone was standing. She took one look in the car and almost freaked."Oh my god. Is he ok?"
"Right now he isn't doing so great, but he is alive. I had to start an iv because his BP was 90 over 60. He said his back, neck, head and leg hurt. He has a cut about 2 inches wide on his head. He his responsive."
She seemed to calm down a bit. "Do you know what happened?"
"No,"I began,"But the guy in the other car appears to have been drinking, which doesn't mix on these roads."
She shook her head,"He better be ok."
"Don't worry, he will be."
They freed the guy from the other car first so they could better asses his injuries since he was not responsive. Chip was out next. We placed him on a backboard, I bagged him to help keep his oxygen up until I got into the truck where I could start oxygen on him. When we got in the truck, Kevin went to help the other truck work on the drunk guy. She checked his bp again, and it had risen slightly, but it was better than it was last time. She placed a oxygen mask on him and checked his pulse again.
"Stacie, am I gonna die?" he asked taking the mask off.
"No."
"Are you lying to me?"
"I hope not. No one dies in my truck. I won't let you be the first. I won't let anything happen, period."
She wrote down all his information, asked if Kevin and them needed any help and came back to the truck."Is Jackie here?"
"Yeah, she showed up about 10 minutes after I did."
"How is she doing?"
"She's freaking. I'm not going to let her go the hospital in the truck. She can go in her own truck."
"Did it work?" he asked breathlessly.
"What?"
"You know."
"I don't know. Maybe. I will see tomorrow morning. Now put that mask back on, so you can breath, if you don't, I'll have to bag you."
A few minutes later, Jackie came to the truck. "Do you need help with anything? Or is he doing ok?"
"He's stable.Why?"
"Because I don't think we will be leaving anytime soon, this guy just woke up,and freaked, tried to hit me and Kevin. Then he fainted again, hasn't woke up since, we are getting a weak pulse."
"Do you need help?"
"No, I think we got it, but if you need to take him right away, I can drive. Kevin is kind of tied up right now."
"No, we are good, if anything changes, I'll let you know."
She shook her head and ran back to the other man. Chip and Stacie talked a few minutes until Kevin showed up. They took both men to the hospital. Jackie and Stacie hung around to see how Chip was doing. It turned out being whiplash, concusion, and a badly bruised leg. Stacie told Jackie this and she breathed a sigh of relief. She kissed Stacie and thanked her for taking care of him. Stacie left her alone as she went in to talk to him.
The next morning, she got out of bed quietly before Jackie woke up to take the test. She sat on the bathroom floor waiting for the stick to reveal her fate. If it didn't hurry up soon, Jackie would be up and wondering what the hell she was doing.
Her watch went off signaling it was time to check the stick. When she turned it over, she saw a pink plus sign staring back at her. She smiled, tears welling up in her eyes. She brushed them away with a swipe of her hand and took a shower. She heard Jackie up and busling around in her usual manner. She would tell her about the great news later.
At work, she was completely excited. Carol pulled her aside and asked her of the news. She smiled and told her yes. She smiled, congradulated her and asked her if Jackie knew yet. She shook her head and knew that she had to find a way to tell her. And it had to be a good one.
The alarm sounded. Stacie walked with Jackie out to the truck. " We have a drunk teenager up at the school. He came in, started some trouble, hit his head up against the wall a few times, cracked it open pretty good. One police officer is on the scene, we might have some trouble with this one."
They pulled around to the back doors of the school, and walked a stretcher in past the gym and to the office where they were holding him. They walked in to find him struggling with the officer and throwing a tantrum. The principal began talking to them about what should be done.
"He has a pretty good size cut on his head, and school policy means whenever this happens, the student must get their stomach pumped. His parents were called, gave us the ok to let you take him. They will be at the hospital shortly."
"Ok, so let's get him out on the stretcher, I have the restraints." I said walking out the door. Jackie followed helping pull the student out into the hallway. He was kicking and screaming all the while. They pushed him down on the stretcher. Stacie moved around them and began to restrain him. He kicked his foot out violently with a harsh blow to her stomach. She flew across the hall hitting to the wall and finally falling to the floor.
"God, Stace, are you ok?" Jackie asked tighting up the final restraints.
"I think so. But my head and stomach hurts now."
"I think you need to get checked out yourself." she helped me up off the floor as a few wide eyed students watched on. She hobbled out to the truck. Jackie helped her in, and checked her blood pressure for good measure. "Do you want to drive, or do you think you are ok with him back here?" she asked.
"I'll be fine." she said not really believing it herself. All she could think about was the unborn baby.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine. Trust me."
They drove to the hospital with Stacie only have minimal trouble with the patient. They took him in, stated his condition and waited until Stacie could get ahold of an ER nurse. She explained the situation, and whispered that she might/is pregnant and wants checked out.Jackie took the stretcher out to the truck and began the paper work while Stacie followed the nurse into a room to be checked out.
First, she was given a pregnancy test that turned out positive. Next, she was given an ultra sound to check for any internal injuries. She found none. "Well it looks good. I see nothing unusual. I can set you up with an appointment to start your regular baby checkups, if you'd like."
"That would be great." Stacie said wiping the cold gel off her stomach and replacing her shirt.Moments later she returned with a appointment card.
"Just come in and she will set up everything. I made it for as soon as possible so everything could be checked out again. Like I said everything looks fine, if you have any spotting, or severe stomach pain, come back in. Ok?"
She shook her head,"Thanks again."
"No problem, and congrats."
Jackie came in a few minutes later. She kissed her gently,"What did they find?"
"Well everything is ok, but there is something that I want to tell you."
"What?"
Stacie took a deep breath not knowing how Jackie would react was nerve racking for her. "I'm pregnant."
"What? How?"
"Chip."
"What? You two? Behind my back?"
She started to walk off, but Stacie stopped her,"No, Jackie listen to me, it's not like that at all. Give me one minute to explain. Then you can freak. He came over and told me that you told him we wanted kids, he said that he could helps us. He started depositing some sperm in a cup every few days and I would inject in me, he did it so the baby could look like both of us."
It took awhile for it to register in her mind. She smiled,"Wow, I can't believe it, we're going to have a baby!" she started jumping up and down, smiling. From the looks of it, her mind was racing."Does Chip know?"
"No, I told him at the accident scene that I might be, but now I know for sure."
"We have to go tell him. I was planning on seeing him today anyway. Come on." she grabbed her by the hand and pulled her through the hall, into the elevator and into his room. She woke him up and broke the news. He was really excited and smiled,"Well I guess you two are going to make me babysite the little tyke."
"Of course, after all, you are his uncle." Jackie exclaimed.
We talked for awhile and began to get ready to leave. Stacie headed out the door leaving the two to talk. Although she wasn't in the room, she listened to what was being said.
"Thanks bro. I have to admit though, I almost killed you when she told me. I thought that you two had something going on."
"No way. She is a beautiful girl, any guy or girl would love to have, but she is yours, not mine. I just helped a little."
Their beepers went off, sending them to attention."Well we have to go, we have a call." Jackie headed towards the door, Stacie quickly moved away. "Come on hon, let's go."
