Navy Vets weekend preview
By CORY SMITH, SENTINEL-REVIEW
The Navy Vets will try to forget the 9-0 drubbing they suffered against Norwich and return to the form that earned them three straight home wins to start December.
Prior to Saturday's loss, Woodstock had not allowed more than five goals against since Nov. 5 against New Hamburg and had won three of its last four games.
The Navy Vets will travel to New Hamburg tonight at 7:30 p.m. before kicking off a three-game homestand Saturday at 7:45 p.m. against the visiting Simcoe Storm.
Woodstock will need production from forwards Derek Cowing, Travis Horvath and Chase Thornton. Cowing, in particular, has been a catalyst for Woodstock, scoring a team-high 14 goals in his rookie season.
In Woodstock's last three wins, Cowing has scored two goals and three assists. Conversely, he was held pointless in the team's last two losses in which the Navy Vets were shut out both times.
