UPDATE: Official in Critical Condition
A linesman who was seriously injured in a hockey game in Woodstock last night is in critical condition in hospital.
25-year-old Kevin Brown, remains in a London hospital after his throat was slashed with a skate. The linesman from the Sebringville area was cut in the third period of a 4-4 tie between the Woodstock Renegades and New Hamburg Firebirds.
Two players fell to the ice during a scrum after the Renegades scored the tying goal, and one of their skates came up and cut the linesman.
Witnesses say Brown's neck was gushing blood as he skated off the ice, but collapsed before he could reach the benches. The game was stopped and the Ontario Hockey Association will later rule on how the game should end.
Woodstock Renegades Owner Bill McLeod says he has heard Brown is "not doing so well" after being listed in stable condition earlier this morning.
