Match Report: -
A last minute penalty scored by Quinton
Fortune was enough to secure South Africa a point from an evenly matched game.
The game was started strongly by both teams and the spectators had to wait until
the 39th minute for the deadlock to be broken. This was when santa cruz sent the
ball into the back of the net to give Paraguay the lead. The game finished the
half with that scoreline, as there wasnt much attacking threat for the last 6
minutes. It wasnt untill 10 minutes after the restart that another goal was
scored as Paraguay doubled their lead through Arce with a cracking free kick.
After this goal, the South Africans started stringing more passes together and
then after 64 minutes, forced an own goal from Praguay's Struway. South Africa
pressed forward looking for a goal, holding off threat from Paraguay looking for
their 3rd. It finally came when there was an infringement in the box. Fortune
buried the ball, to earn South Africa a creditable draw.
