Match Report: -
As expexted, Spain proved too much of a competition for Slovenia as they dropped to a 3-1 defeat. Raul scoring a minute before the break and Valeron and Hierro doing the damage in the closing stages of the match. Slovenia managed to hold off their strong opponents for most of the second half as Spain through bodies forward in attack and controlled the game for most of the match. Slovenia expecting anything but a win, managed to score a consolation goal through Cimirotic after 82 mins, just before Hierro finished the job and help Spain to win their opening group match for the first time in 52 years.
