Soul Reaver Glyphs

GLYPHS

Press shift to bring up the Glyph menu and press the Square button to activate the Glyph.

SHIFT

Allows Raziel to shift from the Material to the Spectral Realm at any time.

To shift from Spectral to Material, Raziel must be at full health and use the Shift Glyph while standing on a portal.

Location: N/A

Cost: None but in the Spectral realm Raziel must be at full health and at a portal.

FORCE

Waves of Telekinetic force rush out from Raziel, throwing enemies.

Telekinetically flung enemies may end up damaged or destroyed depending on what they hit.

Location: As you leave the Melchiah Clan (after beating the man himself), jump in the water and you will turn into the Spectral Plane. There are two gates here that you can pass through. One has a Health Token, grab that and then go through the other to get to a gate – phase through it. Shift to material and you will see three pillars – push them all over to get the Force glyph.

Cost: 1

STONE

Raziel slams his fist into the floor, causing a localised earthquake. All enemies in the affected area are stunned by the violence of the spell’s effect. This Glyph has a large area of effect.

Location: A block puzzle, can’t remember.

Cost:

SOUND

Deadly waves of sound emanate from this Glyph’s epicentre.

Vampires that are struck by the expanding waves of sound are badly damaged and then killed.

Location: Inside Zephon’s cathedral. Go to the main room with the twisting pipes and a pit in the middle but don't fly up using your wings this time – drop down and head down the tunnel to a climbing wall (at the top is a barrier you have to shoot with the telekinetic projectile). Inside it is a room with many pillars, you have to hit a large gong with the golden mallet. Jump across one of the pillars. The next one you can’t get to so chuck your mallet into the alcove and shift spectral. Jump onto the next pillar and shift again. Get your mallet back then continue along the pillars, put the mallet down and shoot the window and then chuck in the mallet. Shift spectral and jump through, now all you need to do is hit the gong with the mallet and you get the sound glyph.

Cost:

WATER

This Glyph’s magic explodes into a room, creating a watery downpour that burns vampires within its range. The water Glyph does not kill. It reduces all water-vulnerable vampires within the spell’s radius to a damaged state. As with any other damaged state, the enemy will recover to full health after a prescribed amount of time – until then, they are vulnerable to fatal attacks.

Location: Inside the human city – there is a room with a statue somewhere (can’t remember) go up the stairs on the right of it and jump across the water. There’s a block in the wall – drag it out and push it into the water. Push the block into the left room and then into the hole in the middle - the room then floods with water. Go back to the statue and you’ll get the Water Glyph.

Cost:

FIRE

This Glyph’s power expands outward in rings of fire, igniting all enemies in its wake, instantly killing both vampires and humans.

Location: (This Glyph appears in one of the SR demos) Return to Raziel’s Clan area. Go to the door that has the stairs which leads to the underwater shortcut. (opposite the warpgate door) Go down the stairs and swim to entrance at the top right corner of the wall. As you swim the colour of the walls will change from blue, green and then yellow. (if not then either you’re colour blind or you’ve taken a wrong run somwhere) you will reach a huge room called the Cistern. Grab one of the unlit torches on either side of the entrance and swim up. Look for the hall guarded by two Dumahim and enter the door they’re guarding. At the edge of the hall, aim and throw the torch across the pit to the ledge on the other side. GO back to the Cistern and enter the room on the opposite side to a room with a crank. Turn the crank and the door will open – it’s on a timer and you know what? Time does not pass in the Spectral Realm so shift your butt over there. Go through the door and shift back – jump off the ledge and you’ll be in the Fire Glyph room. There’s a crank here – turn it and it’ll open a gate which you go through. You see that ledge? Your unlit torch should be there. Grab it and jump down the pit and continue along till you find a room with a fire in it – light your unlit torch so it becomes a lit torch. Go to the statue room and give the bowl he’s holding a good whack to get yourself the Fire Glyph.

Cost:

SUNLIGHT

When Raziel casts this Glyph, the room is filled with a flash of blinding sunlight. All enemies in the area are reduced to cinders.

Location: Something to do with a lighthouse.

Cost:

THE FIRE REAVER

When Raziel finds the Fire Forge, he can baptise the Soul Reaver in it and the blade will become imbued with Fire. Once baptised, the blade can be re-imbued at any time by passing it through a fire source.

If Raziel is damaged and the soul Reaver disappears it must be re-imbued with Fire when Raziel returns to full health and the Soul Reaver reappears. When the Soul Reaver is charged with Fire, vampires are burned by it’s slashes and its projectiles will set them alight.

Location: The Fire Forge is a cave that can only be reached from underwater behind a stained glass window – you should pass it shortly after defeating Rahab and gaining the swimming ability. Blast the stained glass and swim through – stick your lightsaber into the fire and you get a new fire one… Nice.
