:: SUPER METROID: ITEMS ::

"I first battled the Metroids on planet Zebes"

:: Main :: Story :: Characters :: Items :: Locations :: Creatures :: Art :: Cheats ::

Super Metroid includes a varied amount of Items and artillery. It is your job to collect these objects and use them to your advantage. Below I have listed these items with a picture and brief description of each.

The Morph ball appears again in Super Metroid. Used in many places, you acquire this invaluable item right at the beginning of your adventure.

The power bombs blow holes in sections of the game and reveal secrets. You gain this item much later on, and while a great murdering tool, power bombs also allow you access to yellow doors.

Energy tanks add extra energy blocks (1 block=100HP). Reserve tanks build on energy tanks, adding energy when all other tanks have been used up.

The charge beam allows you to hold down the fire button, building up raw energy. When released your weapon will release a more powerful firepower.

Hi-jump boots let you jump higher than before. This allows you passage not only into Krad's Brinstar lair, but also further into the depths of Zebe's itself.

The wave beam sends powerful waves of energy into your foes.

The ice wave freezes enemies, rendering them harmless for a short period of time. You can either finish the weaker enemies in this time, or jump on the frozen enemy as it has formed a stepping-stone.

The speed booster allows you to run faster than before, until you become a blur with break-neck speed. Running until this happens, then quickly ducking and pressing up while still charged will send you flying upwards.

The plasma beam proves itself as one of the most powerful weapons in the entire game.

The grappling beam allows you to swing on the cross-ceiling tiles. You can often sale above hazards this way, but take heed, some tiles are broken, and successful jumping from one tile to another (without falling) requires patience and accuracy.

The Varia suit is a suit power-up

The spring ball allows you to jump in morph-ball form. This is a valuable remedy to an irritating problem.
