Super Metroid was not just a great game, but
it's characters (though limited) and it's story made it even more enthralling.

Metroid was the third game in the series and once again on a completely new
system. The Snes. This game took Samus back to planet Zebes were it all began
in the first game.
...Samus gained the last Metroid larva from planet SR-388 before leaving after
killing the queen. She took the creature with her as it posed no threat. It
followed her like a 'confused child'. Taking it back to the science academy
space colony, the scientists discovered the Metroid was actually designed to
benefit mankind, however, Mother brain had used them for her own twisted ends.
Samus left the academy safe in the knowledge she may have helped many with her
last crusade. However, before even reaching the asteroid field the distress
signal from the academy burst in. Samus' old enemy Ridley had turned up.
Master of the space pirates...
After many violent battles on planet Zebes against Kraid, Dragon, Phantoon,
Ridley and Even the mother brain again, the Last Metroid was destroyed after
saving Samus. Samus left the planet empty handed with only her life and ship
as it exploded into several million pieces. Up to this day, it is not known if
every last Metroid was killed. Maybe we will just have to wait until the next
adventure to find out. But the last Metroid gave Samus her powers remember...
