Candlesticks

Wall sconces are great for hall lighting, but sometimes you want to give the room a more cozy touch...

That's where these candlesticks come in!

I started with a spiral nail (not sure what it's for, but cruise your local DIY, they're not uncommon), a small brad, cup-shaped jewelry findings from a bead store, and an old tarnished earring backing.

The jewelry findings' holes had to be enlarged so I used a found Riffler (needle) file; the enlarged findings are on the right. I also used a flat file to take off the edges of the spiral nail 1/4" from the top.

I used crazy glue to affix the jewelry findings and earring back to the nails.

I painted them black (I should have used Tremclad or other paint suitable for metal but didn't have any, therefore it rubbed off in some spots). Then I painted the candle portion with Plaid's Linen White glaze.

When that was dry, I dabbed some Ceramcoat Crocus Yellow on my finger and dipped the candlestick tip into it. Then I did the same with Folk Art's Metallic Bright Red, only not as far in.
