Here's a sampling of pictures of drawbridges on the web, for reference in building your own.

Walt Disney in front of his castle - shows the drawbridge with some detail.

Castles of Britain's Castle Learning Center has a short description & image of a drawbridge.

A scan from a kids' book, this picture shows a full and pedestrian drawbridge of the hinged type.

Although not specifically on drawbridges, the pictures for this DIY castle from TerraGenesis are good inspiration.

See NetTerrain's "remodeled" castle, complete with working drawbridge.

This enormous castle from Fortress Castles Co. shows a winch on the wallwalk to raise the drawbridge.

I couldn't resist including a Piranesi drawing of a drawbridge... This is the artist whose incredibly detailed drawings inspired Bruce Hirst to make the Prison Tower.


The drawing on the left shows two different drawbridge designs - the seesaw and the hinged bridge type.

On the right is an example of a hinged bridge type (Langeais, France), with the huge beams coming to rest in channels in the castle wall. Notice the pedestrian bridge as well.

Below is a nice example of a drawbridge that could integrate the Castlemolds' Traveler's Bridge.
