Marching

Marching is one of the most important parts of our drills and ceremonies. Marching takes a lot of concentration and steadiness. When marching you need to make sure you are aligned with the cadets infront, behind, and to the left and right of you. You need to be on the correct step at all times. If you fall off step there is a movement you can do that allows you to get back on step called chain step. This movement is a command you do on yourself that allows you to return to the correct step the commander is on. You must listen to all the commands that the commander is giving or you will destroy the formation of the flight.

Marching regulation has a lot of movements to get you facing different directions. There are movements like "left face," "right face," "about face," which allow you to face other directions. When marching there are many different movements. When you begin to march you face a direction that is open and spacious so that there is enough room to march. You start of with your left foot and begin to march as the Commander calls cadence (keeping you on the correct foot). Almost every commander is executed on the right foot except "left flank" and "column left" which you call on your left foot. The commander excutes the command left flank which allows the whole flight to turn to the left and they continue marching.

If the commander notices that the flight is getting too close to a building, he can execute the command of to-the-rear march which allows the whole flight to turn around and continue. While the flight is facing the other way, he will give the command to halt the flight, or stop it. The commander will say, "flight fall out, dismissed." The flight will then take one step back with there right foot and do an about face.
