Lung Energizing

"Begin in a standing position with the back straight, chin slightly into the chest, head erect (as if the back of the neck is stretching upward) with the feet shoulder-width apart and parallel to each other. Now exhale all the air from the lungs and clasp the hands behind your back. Inhale slowly, expanding the lungs and pushing your hands (which are behind you) away from your back. Keep the chin tucked into the chest and use only the chest to breathe with while practicing this exercise. As you exhale, drop the hands and bring the arms out in front of you. Continue to raise the arms, bringing the hands up towards the head and then around behind the back and back up in front of the body to form one cycle. The fingers should pointed throughout the rotation. Then interlace the fingers behind the back and begin the exercise again on the inhalation. Do this exercise seven times.

"As you inhale the air into the lungs, think about fresh energy coming in to invigorate the lung tissues. As you exhale, imagine that all the germs, stale air and toxins are leaving the lungs. This exercise helps to heal any kind of lung problems, even a common cold. It strengthens the entire breathing system, including the skin (which is often referred to as the "third lung")." *
