Tai Chi Stances

Stances seem to be highly neglected by most martial arts students. As an aspiring Daemon in pursuit of occult objectives, you will find that basic Stances held for long periods of time are very powerful. You should begin by alternating Stances of your choosing for 30-60 minutes (you may wish to do warm up exercises before stance meditation). When you begin to get potent results in the form of energy manifestations, you may find yourself losing track of time, doing Stances for 2+ hours. During past training periods, I have done Stances in combination with moving martial arts forms and J.O.S. meditations for up to 8 hours a day, sometimes 40+ hours a week; do as you Will.

Do not worry about doing these perfectly. Even if your Stances are slightly incorrect, you will get kundalini manifestations (do not be surprised if you find your crown chakra melting downward as energy reaches it). More importantly, you will come to know your own body and can slightly adjust the Stances accordingly. I frequently do Stance meditation in silence, but for a change of pace, stimulating music can greatly increase the potency of your Stance Meditations- find a continuous online radio station or a CD track(s) to repeat. Relaxing music is effective, facilitating relaxation into the Stances, ideal for power void meditation (you may use energy breathing, but this is not necessary as stances build energy regardless, even if your focus is purely void). More intense music may be used to cause emotion-energy surges if you are specifically doing Stances to build strength and power- I don't recommend this if you are focusing on transcending into deep trance states or no mind as it would be jarring to the nervous system and/or counter productive.

Stance meditation should enable the LHP practitioner to develop fierce resolve and strength of will. Cultivate fanatical determination, channel this into your Stance meditations and you will get results. Eventually, you should be able to perform Stance meditation for long periods of time through sheer Will alone, intoxicated by your own energy. Or you may will to transcend all of that and just void out.

MEDITATION STANCE (figure 3-172):
squat down into Horse Stance with your hands at waist height. palms facing the floor.*

Your Stance does not need to be deep. You may begin with a shallow Stance and adjust it as you see fit.) You should be able to meditate in this Stance comfortably for long periods of time.

STANCE 01 (figure 3-75):
from Meditation Stance, raise your arms forward to shoulder height, elbows bent. turn palms to face throat, thumbs [comfortably] pointing up at less than 45 degrees. relax- there should be no tension in the arms.

Initially, you should be able to hold this Stance for at least 10 minutes. This Stance can be held easily for long periods of time if you periodically drop the arms, shake out the tension, and return them to their position.

STANCE 02 (figure 3-194):
from Meditation Stance, inhale and step your left leg forward. exhale, shifting your weight forward, body facing front, pushing forward with right hand, left arm remaining back and down. [This stance is "2 stances" and my directions should be "reversed" for the other side.]

I like to visualize the energy surging up my spine and alternatively, may focus my attention to the center of my right palm, drawing energy to it. you will eventually feel this and also a tingling of the skin surface.

STANCE 03 (to be added):

of the Stances that I have listed, this is the most difficult to hold for extended periods of time. This Stance is 2 Stances.

STANCE 04 (figure 3-199):
from Meditation Stance, inhale and step your left leg forward. exhale, shifting your weight forward, body facing front, lifting left arm until pushing forward with left hand, lifting right arm to side, right wrist bent and hanging with all finger tips touching each other and pointing downward.

You may wish to concentrate on the center of your left palm or on the finger tips of your right hand. Alternatively you may wish to void out, silencing your mind and centering yourself thereby forgetting the pain.
