PATRIOT DAY RECOGNITION DINNERIn appreciation of fire fighters, police officers, military personel, and their families.
Route 66 Classic Grill donated 457 dinners on the one year anniversary of the attacks on September
11, 2001. Each dinner represented a fallen hero (343 FDNY, 23 NYPD, 37 Port Authority,
33 Navy, 21 Army) who lost their lives serving our country.
The evening began with a 35'x90' American Flag being raised behind the stage, while Melina Hicks
sang "God Bless America." The "Skinny Little Twits" also provided everyone with their great music.
Following dinner there was a candle light tribute held in honor of those who lost their lives
during the attacks on September 11.
City of Santa Clarita Mayor, Bob Kellar, presented awards to local students who participated
in an essay contest titled; "I'm proud my family member is a fire fighter, police officer, or soldier because.."
Awards were also presented to pre-school thru second grade students who participated in a coloring
contest. Winners in all categories were presented with Patriot Bonds donated by Valencia Naitonal Bank.
