Entry in this tournament is FREE to K-12 students who pre-register before January 20th. 
Special thanks to The Rotary Club of Riverside, The Magnolia Rotary Club, and the Riverside
East Rotary Club for supporting this tournament.  Check here for details on next year's tournament !

There were 175 participants. Winners for each division were as follows

Elementary: Redlands Christian
Middle School: Sierra Middle School
High School: Etiwanda High School

"THE RIVERSIDE GAMBIT" Saturday March 8th, 2003

The Riverside Gambit is a new Youth Chess tournament, providing USCF rated competition
to K – 12 students in the Southern California area.

The tournament was developed by the Riverside Youth Chess Association, operating out of
the Riverside Rotary Club. Riverside County’s Credit Union and Riverside Public Utilities are sponsors
of this exciting Chess event.  John W. North High School’s Chess Club is pleased to host the tournament.

Primary:

Elementary:

Third place: Christopher Sidor, Mariposa Elementary, Redlands

Middle School:
First place: Shane Allotta, Redlands Christian MS
Second place: Joshua Zonker, Villegas MS, Riverside
