Yard Sale
I had a combined yard sale with 4 other friends this past Saturday and made $93. It's nice to get rid of junk and still get money for it since I usually just give it away. The big sellers were children's clothes. Anna made over $50 selling her children's clothes in the only 2 hours she participated. I sold old make-up, such as hardly used lip gloss and eye make up and purses I never use (given to me and too small for all the junk I haul around now that I have a child).
Joy sold clothes with tags still on them. The funny thing was, many of the clothes we sold were clothes we could no longer fit in--the size ZEROES. When we came upon thin teeny boppers, we attacked them like vultures. One girl left with 11 pieces of clothes complete with Pleather (black pseudo leather) pants and a zebra top for which we told her she could go "clubbing."
There were quite a few professional yard/garage sale shoppers. You could tell when they'd say something so bold as "That's pretty steep for a cookbook, don't you think? I 'll give you a dollar." And then there was US, the not so professional yard/garage sellers: "SOLD!" (no fight, no bargaining, we practically gave things away at times).
We had fun. After 7 hours, we called it quits and dreamed of other treasures we could buy and likely sell later.
Taste of Turkey
Yesterday, I had my first taste of turkey for THIS season during our church's anuual Thanksgiving party. I piled my plate with sides galore and thus commenced the season of gluttony.
About this time last year, I weighed 20 pounds more than I do now (I was post partum). I'm hoping I maintain the weight during the holiday season. Although I'm sure the "food" drawer in my desk is not helping any.
