Vic showed and got his first leg in Obedience in Texakana 6/14/03. He did real well concidering I didn't do any prep work. He got a 190 out of 200 score. He will show tomarrow and hopefully get his secound leg. He has to have 3 legs in order to get CD title. We hopefully will get it at our next show in Longview.
Waiting for our turn to show.
This is us just coming into the ring and the Judge coming over to let us know what he wants us to do. The Judge will tell you to move "forward" at a normal pace he will tell you to "Stop", "slow", "about turn", and "fast". This is all done on leash.
The next thing that you will do is the "Figure 8". This is done on leash and the Judge will ask you if you are ready and then to move "forward" and "halt". You will have to halt 2 times and do the 8 two times. Your posts are people.
Each execise is finished and the Judge will tell you where to go. He will then let you know what it is that you will be doing next. He will ask you if you are ready and then begin when you are.
After your on leash and Figure 8 you will do your the Stand For Exam. You will stand your dog and then move about 10 feet away. The Judge will aproch the dog and touch his head, and back. He will tell you to return to your dog and then that the execise is finished.
Next is off leash healing. You do all the same things that you did on leash.
You will then do the Recall. The Judge will take you back to the start line and tell you to go to the other end of the ring (they will have tape on the ground to show you where to stop) and to begin when you are ready.
After everyone is finished with their turn, the judge will then have everyone come into the ring for the Sit Stay. You will all stand on a line and tell your dog to "Sit" "Stay". You will then leave your dog and go to the other side of the ring. The sit stay is one minute.
After the Sit Stay is the Down Stay, 3 min. All same as the Sit Stay.
When all is done everyone will come back into the ring and the Judge will hand out ribbons and give you your scores.
Hanging out and waiting is a big part of showing. You will make friends that also are showing thier dogs and will see them at other shows. This is great for you to do even if your dog is "just a pet". We had a great time.
