"Art For The Sake Of Art"
About The Artist
Sarah Werntz, an amateur artist for over ten years, enjoys painting impressionistic, contemporary, abstract, and folk art inspired by her experiences of everyday life. Among her favorites are impressionistic scenes from her native Louisiana.
Sarah’s themes are decidedly contemporary, demonstrated through her use of bold colors and a variety of textures in oil and acrylic media. With no formal instruction, Sarah is a self-taught artist whose paintings come from a heart who loves "art for the sake of art".
A graduate of Mississippi College, with a Bachelor of Social Work, Sarah has brought her talents back to Louisiana, where she is pursuing a Masters degree in Social Work at Louisiana State University.
Statement by the artist:
My purpose as an artist is to communicate my own visual and emotional response to a locale, to share with the viewer my own intimate impressions, and to awaken visual memories of your own experiences so that the past experiences, feelings, and future hopes and dreams, momentarily reborn, becomes the present. I believe that all good and beautiful things come from God, which I hope to express through my art.I express much gratitude to the local business owners who have supported my work by sharing it with you. I hope that you will connect with something that you have seen in my work and will appreciate and come to love "art for the sake of art" as I do.
