Android 18 started out as just a normal beauty until she and her twin brother were changed into androids by the evil Dr. Gero. This transformation changed the twins into heartless machines who saw the world as their own private wreaking yard. In Future Trunks' time, Android 18 and her twin Android 17 killed most of the Z Fighters and wiped out most of Earth's population. They would have done the same in the presant if it hadn't been for Cell, Dr. Gero's ultimate creation. He needed to absorb both androids to reach his final, complete, form.
After Cell absorbed 17, 18 felt the pain off loss for the first time and she also felt fear when Cell started to pursue her. Tien, Krillin, Trunks, and 18fs (big brother?) Android 16 managed to hold Cell off for awhile, but in the end Cell finally absorbed 18 and became complete.
This wasn't the end of 18, however. During the Cell Games, Gohan caused Cell to vomit up 18. After the organic android was no more, Krillin used the Dragon Balls to wish that the powerful bombs that Gero placed in the androids bodies to be removed. Some time later, 18 married Krillin and they had a daughter, Marron.
Android 18 is a strong and skilled fighter who can wipe the floor with almost any fighter she comes across. She has a tough girl attitude, but a caring heart. She would have been named the World Martial Arts Champion if she hadnt lost to Hercule on purpose in exchange for 20 million zeni, which she has never seen a penny of.
