There are many layers to this Ranger. On the outside, he's tough, selfish, cold, bitter and arrogant. But peel away all that and you get a nice guy, who is carring, but lonley.
Eric always wanted to be something great. He was jealous of his school mate, Wes Collins, because he seemed to have it all, while Eric had nothing. It was Eric's desire to be great that moved him to join the Silver Gaurdians and his desire to be better than Wes that made him steal the Quantum Morpher and use it to become the Quantum Ranger.
Once Eric got control of the powerful Quantasurus Rex, he was promoted to Captian of the Silver Gaurdians. But even though he was a Ranger, he refused to work with the Time Force Team unless he had to. (Which was often). This was because of his hatered for Wes. Eric ultimatly had to put all of his bitternees aside, when he and Wes were the only ones to save Silver Hills from Ransik's million Cyclobots and the giant robot Doomtron. Poor Eric was soon taken out of the battle when he took a near fatel blast for Wes father. When he was up and about agian, Mr. Collens made both him and Wes the leaders of the Silver Gaurdians. I guess the bitterness between the two has vanished.
