Prince Garret (Mystic Knight of Forest)

"This won't be a battle. Just a quick lesson in humility."

Garret started out as the kind of guy who could really use some sense knocked into him. True, he was a good fighter and had a natural talent for dealing with creatures, but the guy only liked to talk about one thing and that was himself. Plus, he was rude, inconsiderate, and arrogant. In short, a jerk. So, why is he on my favorites list? Because he had a change of heart. (Thank God.) He realized that he wasn’t a one-man army and became a more friendlier, loyal, and good-hearted person. But he’s still cute and that’s something that I was glad that it didn’t change.

Garret first came to Kells on a mission to form an alliance his home kingdom, Regate, and the kingdom of Kells. Unfortunately, that involved marrying a reluctant Deirdre who hated his guts. And she wasn’t the only one. Rohan, Angus, and Ivar also had a great dislike for the young prince because of his attitude. But, Cathbard the druid had a vision that revealed that Garret was destined to be the Mystic Knight of Forest.

In order to fulfill that destiny, Garret first had to overcome his pride and learn that accepting help from others is not a sign of weakness in order to win his Twin Timber Axes from the little people of Tir Na Nog. Then he had to fight a giant spider for his Mystic Armor. Garret accomplished both these goals with flying colors and soon was able to smooth things over with the other Mystic Knights. (However, he never did get to marry Deirdre.)

Garret’s way with animals, agility, and swordsmanship made him a valuable member of the team, but he soon had to leave Kells on an important mission: escorting the lovely Princess Lynette back to her home kingdom. But, he was back months later with a powerful battle vehicle: the Dragon Bow, which proved to be useful in a couple of battles. Garret was a big help in the fight against Temra, but like Deirdre, Ivar, and Angus did not play a big role in bringing down Queen Mave once and for all.

Must see Garret episodes: “Garret and the Princess,” “Traitor of Kells,” “The Fifth Knight,” “The Mystic Knight of Forest,” “A King’s Ransom,” “Shipwrecked,” “A Knight in the Forest.”

Garret is played by Ben Palmer.
