Who’s Kyoko you ask? Well, she’s the only Ranger in the Japanese version of Lightspeed Rescue, GoGoV, that didn’t get an American counterpart. (Why? Ask Saban?) Kyoko Haysig was an astronout who had the bad luck of flying a shuttle that was damaged by the Shuma’s (Demons) first attack. Lucky for her, the GoGoV (Rangers) were on hand to help her land safely. (The same way the helped Nancy’s shuttle land in the American version of GoGoV)
During the rescue, Kyoko heard the GoGoV say some things that helped her figure out who they really were. (The GoGoV have secret identities unlike the Lightspeed Rangers) Fortunately for them, she kept her mouth shut. She even helped the team out. She helped get innocent people out of the way during the GoGoV’s battle with the Shuma and played an important role in getting the Max Shuttle (Max Solarzord) up and running. More than anything, Kyoko wanted to be apart of the GoGoV, but there were only five morphers and they were already given out. Kyoko does gain temporary super powers in the GoGoV movie.
One day, the GoGoV are fighting a mysterious new demon that has arrived from outer space (and Kyoko is watching from behind a car) when another alien shows up dressed in black and gold armor. The alien is later revealed to be named Jiku, the Demon Hunter. Jiku is angry at the demon, which is named Goruma, because he destroyed Jiku’s home world. The GoGoV want to help Jiku fight the monster, but he doesn’t want their help. He battles Goruma, but succeeds in getting mortally wounded. While the GoGoV fight off Goruma, Kyoko tries to help Jiku. Sadly there’s nothing she can do to save him. Jiku takes her hands and tells her to use his life force to defeat Goruma. Then, Jiku dies and his body becomes a green stone that Kyoko uses to morph into the Demon Hunter. After fighting a group of Imps, (Batlings) Kyoko goes to help the GoGoV, who are fighting a giant Goruma in the Victory Robo. (Lightspeed Megazord) She blasts Goruma, then channels her new power into the Victory Robo, making it strong enough to defeat Goruma once and for all.
For some reason, Kyoko doesn’t get to keep her newfound powers. After the battle is over, Kyoko lets Jiku’s stone float up into the air. Jiku’s spirit thanks Kyoko and shatters, ending Kyoko’s career as the Demon Hunter. It would be great if she had been able to keep her powers and be the Demon Hunter in the GoGoV series. Maybe then, Saban would have added a female Demon Hunter in Lightspeed Rescue.
Must See Kyoko episodes: I wouldn’t know. I’ve never actually seen GoGoV. The information I have about her is what I got from the same pages I got her pictures from. Kyoko is played by some beautiful Japanese actress who, unfortunatly, I don’t know the name of.
