There’s a lot to be said about Power Ranger Tommy Oliver. Why? Because of all the Rangers ever to appear on PR, he’s been around the longest. Tommy began as the evil Green Ranger under Rita Replusa’s spell. He and his Dragonzord caused a lot of trouble in Angel Grove until Red Ranger Jason broke the spell and Tommy joined the Rangers.
Eventually, Tommy lost his powers when Rita created the green candle, but Zordon was able to recharge them temporarily when he was needed to retrieve the other Power Rangers’ power coins from Rita, but thanks to the evil Lord Zedd and his monsters, Tommy lost the Green Ranger Powers again and this time for good. But Tommy wasn’t out yet. Zordon and Alpha created the powers of the White Ranger and gave them to Tommy. They also gave Tommy the position of leader of the Power Rangers.
Later, after Rito Revoto destroyed their powers and Zords, the Rangers journeyed to the home of the great Ninjor, who gave them new ninja powers.
Tommy went through another power change after Rito and Goldar blew up the Command Center and the Machine Empire was preparing to attack the Earth. Tommy and the others were given the power of the Zeo Crystal and Tommy’s Ranger color went from white to red. They were upgraded from Red Zeo to Red Turbo after the arrival of Divatox.
Sadly, Tommy’s long Ranger career was ended just a few months after he got his Turbo powers. Demitria felt it was time for the older Rangers to move on with their lives, so Tommy passed on his powers to T.J. and has not been seen on Power Rangers since. (Bummer.) Tommy, like all of the Rangers, is a kind hearted and caring soul with a great deal of courage. (Required if you’re going to save the universe from evil.) He also has a strong sense of leadership and friendship in addition to being really cute. He has his flaws, though. He’s a little forgetful and is sometimes late. Also, for the most part, he hasn’t had much luck with women. At first, he had a pretty serious relationship going on with Pink Ranger Kimberly, but then, she dumped him for another guy. Then there was Heather Thompson, a professional skier. Tommy and Heather would’ve made a great couple, but she got a little mad when Tommy had to rush off in the middle of a date to battle a monster and the relationship ended. Now Tommy and former Pink Ranger Katherine are a couple and they seem to be getting along just fine.
Recently, Tommy was called on to lead a band of Red Rangers on a mission to stop the remnents of the Machiene Empire from unleashing Serpentara on the Earth in the history making episode Forever Red.
