Some might say that there is nothing free in life. Well that may be true, except for one thing. We receive eternal life as a free gift. "The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
But that is a gift I don't need!
Wrong!!! Everyone is in need of this gift.
-We are all sinners by nature and by choice. "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
-We cannot save ourselves. "Not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:9).
-We deserve death and hell. "The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).
-The answer is found only in Christ Jesus. "For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit" (1 Peter 3:18).
That's great but what can I do about it?!
The only way Jesus can affect our lives is for us to recieve Him. "Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12)
THE CHOICE IS YOURS!
1. You must repent of your sin "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out" (Acts 3:19).
2. You must place your faith in Jesus. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8).
3. You must surrender to Jesus as Lord. "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved" (Romans 10:9-10).
As evidence of giving control to Jesus, you will want to identify with Him. The New Testament way of identification is to confess Jesus publicly (Matthew 10:32-33) and to follow Him in baptism and church membership (Acts 2:41).
THREE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS:
1. Does what you have been reading make sense to you?
2. Is there any reason you would not be willing to recieve God's free gift of eternal life?
3. Are you willing to place your faith in Jesus right now and turn from your sin?
"For, Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13).
IF YOU ANSWERED YES TO THESE QUESTIONS THEN YOU NEED TO ASK THE LORD JESUS TO SAVE YOU. CALL ON THE LORD IN REPENTANCE, FAITH, AND SURRENDER, USING THESE OR SIMILAR WORDS OF YOUR OWN; AND JESUS WILL BECOME YOUR SAVIOR AND LORD.
Dear God, I know that Jesus is your Son, and that He died on the cross and was raised from the dead. I know that I have sinned and need forgiveness. I am willing to turn from my sins and receive Jesus as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus' name. Amen
