Current gun control measures waste American money and time. There is no need to have any gun control in America today. All of the background checks, waiting periods, and safety locks in the world won't help the problem with guns in America. A person who is going to committ a crime will not go to a licensed dealer and purchase a gun, they will steal one or buy one on the black market. A background check can not stop someone from buying a gun if it is never even used. It is futile for legislatures to even bother with any type of gun control. Laws are insufficient and will have no impact whatsoever on guns and how guns are attained. I, for example, could easily purchase gun through a licensed dealer and use it to harm someone else, because I have no criminal background nor do I have any mental instability myself or in my family's past. But what is to stop me from using the gun, selling it, or even giving it to a friend.

That is why the only way to prevent any type of violence from guns is to take the product of the market entirely. All guns should be banned and all current legislation should be stricken from the books. The 2nd Amendment should be Abolished and thousands of live would be saved. But why should the 2nd Amendment be abolished, because it no longer has implications on today's society. The 2nd Amendment was included in order for people to hunt for food, which is rather unnecessary in today's society with all the modern "conviences" we have at our disposal. Also, at the writing of our Constitution, the country had just won a war with great thanks to Minute Men and a ready, armed militia. We have an enormous military budget in the year 2001, taking away the need for an armed militia comprised of civilians. Finally, no where in the 2nd Amendment does it state the right for an individual to bear arms, it only calls for the right of states to have an armed militia.

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Many people also claim the 2nd Amendment "protects" us from the government won't, because handguns don't compare to heat seaking missile, atomic bombs, and other weapons of mass destruction. Ban all monopolizing the citizens. Wake up people, the government monopolizes us every day! Our guns haven't changed that and they guns (except for military and police forces) and save thousands of lives. I want to see all of you live to the "Age of Purity".
