Inane Futility
Terrorism is the evilest of all
evils. Its aims are to spread fear and
panic among the country and it always involves the loss of innocent,
unconnected lives. Sadly, America is
now awakened to the horrific outcomes of terrorist actions showing that we are
vulnerable and susceptible to these crimes against humanity. I am outraged at these vile fiends who
desecrated the lives of many innocent Americans, and I am mad at the government
and their foreign relations. It is
apparent we are not welcomed in certain areas and we must think about that and
possibly move out of some areas before more violence escalates.
I am happy that I have finally heard the word “WE” used when
speaking of our country. It shows that
we now have a common bond, a common pain that we can all share and relate to
and this tragedy is unifying us. It is
moving us further in the healing process as we mourn and as we search for some
terrorist organization that was involved.
The problem is that everyone is so angry that “just bomb them” has been
the cry of many. This is an illogical,
irrational move to make because the terrorist community is divided amongst many
foreign states so that just localizing one state, and killing innocent
civilians, possibly the terrorists, and their political leaders is not
justified. Yes, there must be justice,
but “just bombing them” will be even more detrimental to us, and the
world. As citizens, we do not know who
“them” is also. We just suspect. The proper authorities know I am sure and
that is all who needs to know at this point in time.
Also, we must not alienate those
within our country who may not speak English or be from Arabic countries
because that will only increase the tensions further. A common saying as “you killed our people and have no right to
live here” is totally wrong. That
person is not connected with the terrorist groups and should not be alienated
because it just happens s/he comes from a country where these terrorists may be
hidden, ect. Please combat this sort of
behavior when you hear a loved one, a friend, or a stranger making these
comments.
For each soul that has been lost,
my heart goes out to their families and friends. I, myself, am personally affected by this tragedy and I empathize
with those who have lost someone dear to him or her. I also want to state that there is a need for blood and if you
can bear having blood drawn, please go to your local red cross and donate as
soon as possible. Also, you can
volunteer by preparing food to be sent out, collecting canned goods, and more
so please check into what your community or campus is doing. This is America’s problem and as Americans
we must help one another. Our brothers
and sisters died the other day because of this callous act and we should not
hate those that have done that, it is hate that has killed these thousands of
people and more lives may unfortunately be lost.
Please also be aware, I myself
have sat in front of the television for over 12 hrs and analyzed the media and
the speeches given to us, and have been able to see some propaganda that is
tied into the situation. Remember that
the media is a business and even through tragedies they are still a
business. I saw the clip of Palestinian
children cheering and laughing and even commenting by saying they are [glad] we
got this and I was outraged, but that random clip was meant to instill anger
and hatred into us because I’m sure I was not the only one who’s first reaction
was “let’s go over there and kill them!”.
I do not feel that way, but after watching the plane crash again and
again and watching that panicked couple jump from the building, I felt this was
just but it isn’t! Just remember the
rumors you hear, and what you see may not be actually what it is. The media is still a business. May we all mourn together and remember the
lives lost. My deepest condolences…
