District Line D Stock
There are 75 D stock trains, which were introduced between 1980 and 1983. Six cars make one train. There are eight single leaf sliding doors per car, a feature believed to hamper boarding and alighting times. When this stock was introduced passenger door control had been restored, a feature that had not been available since the Second World War. D stock trains took over on the East London Line on the 27th of April 1985 with OPO until May 1987.
