Oh, from the Oil pan! I decided after my valve cover gasket and plug well
job that I would tackle some other gasket needing territory. I bought some
end gaskets for the pan and went to work tearing things apart. To remove
the pan you have to take off the ypipe and the starter. I started with the
ypipe because I figured it would be the biggest pain...I was only slightly
disappointed.
After the ypipe was removed I got the starter off and after 14 bolts in the pan
I was able to remove it. It was a little difficult to get free but not too
bad. Also I forgot to mention, when I was removing the starter I wasnt
really paying attention to how many bolts I had removed or how far along the one
I was working on was but after a few turns I heard a "wooosh" sound and a very
loud thud as the starter came crashing down about 1 1/2 inches from my head.
I was a little startled but just laughed when I thought of my buddy coming down
to the shop to find me laying unconscious under the SHO with a starter next to
my head haha. Surprisingly that was the only close call on the whole
project. Anyway below are pics of the motor without the pan...everything
looks good.
Here the pan sits....filthy and awaiting a hot bath at work. It was
actually really clean inside though. There was some oil in the bottom and
you cant tell from the pictures but I was happy to see there wasnt any sludge,
metal shavings, french fries or anything else down there.
The pan got washed up at work looks oh so nice.
I got everything back together and everything was fine...for awhile. I
dropped the pan again because the front was leaking a little so I did another
round of RTV on the whole pan and put her all back together and the problem
seemed to be fixed....hmmm seemed to be. I havent done the whole process
again yet but since the front is STILL leaking I will do it again once I do
another oil change, which should be soon. Im going to get my exhaust fixed
soon as well so maybe I can do it all in one shot. Its just been too cold
lately to get anything accomplished. Incase you were wondering, yes it did
take me this long to update the web site....its Februray...haha. Anyway

The 95 and 97 sitting outside my shop. The 97 left my ownership on
1/24/07, sadly, I could not afford it anymore. I guess now I can mod my
Gen2's with the money Im saving.
Well the list of maintenance for the 95 continues and I think bushings will be
getting replaced soon as mine are far from good.
This picture just makes me laugh and will be my next project in photoshop.
It looks like my 95 is racing the black SHO and is also rear wheel drive.
What a launch!
Ok and if you happen to be wondering "Whose Triple black 93 SHO is that?"...its
mine. I bought it in August of 2006 and went on a very long trip up to
Mosinee Wisconsin to get it. Some of its mod's include a 3.2 from an auto
SHO and a Dynomax Catback...but believe me thats just the tip of the iceberg.
I will be making a page devoted to it soon. This picture was taken a few
weeks after we got back from the trip. I know I said that I was going to
do the 3.2 swap to the 95 but I think I want to keep it stock for now and do
some other much needed maintenance before I do that, if I ever do. The 93
is set up nicely for a Supercharger and it may be getting one soon. Who
knows...
