Part 1
Spike was recovering nicely, especially since Willow was playing nurse.
Xander was staying along with Hank, and everything was perfect. Neither
Willow, Xander, nor Spike had talked to the other scoobies for half a week,
including Xander's new girlfriend. Hank had insisted on making phone calls
to New York, only Willow knew who he was talking to. She looked up from her
patient when Xander walked in. He looked disappointed.
"Xan, what's up?"
Xander sighed and sat down next to her, resting his head on her shoulder.
"Monica dumped me."
"Oh, honey, I'm sorry!"
"S'okay. I didn't like her too much. Want something to eat?" Willow laughed
and shook her head. He was about to get up again, when Hank ran in.
"Willow, I'm afraid I have done something undesirable."
"What is it?"
"I answered your phone, and an older man asked for you. I was a little
suspicious, so I hung up."
"Did he have a British accent?" At Hank's nod, she began to clean up. "Oh
know! They will never understand! Spike, you have to get up. We can hide you
in my parents-" She was cut off by the doorbell. "Hank, just how long would
the guy on the phone take to get here?"
"Five minutes. It is improbable that he would be here by now."
"Then who is at the door?" All four of them rushed to the door. Spike threw
open the door, knowing it was up to him to protect them, even though Hank
looked like he could hold his own. Willow pushed him out of the way when she
saw who it was.
"Mom! Dad! What are you doing here?"
"We could ask you the same thing, Willow," Ira Rosenburg told his daughter,
never looking at her. Hank met his brother-in-law's angry gaze without
wavering.
"This is all nice, but is anyone going to invite us in?" a high female voice
asked. Willow's parents turned to see Buffy, Giles, and Riley.
"Buffy! What are you doing here?"
"We called, heard a strange guy answer, and got worried."
"Back to you, young lady," Sheila addressed her daughter, "I believe we said
no talking to Hank."
"Have you heard her speak to me this whole time?" the blue mutant asked.
"Never use such a tone with my wife!" Ira charged at Hank, but Spike stepped
in, blocking the man's way. Ira fell back onto the floor. The three people
outside gasped.
"Willow! Get away from him, his chip is gone!" Riley cried, hoping no one
else would be hurt.
"Obviously," Spike yelled. He couldn?t believe how messed up this all was.
Buffy had made her decision. She raised her crossbow and aimed it at Spike?s
undead heart. Willow screamed and shoved the blonde vampire out of the
arrow's path. The tiny wooden object embedded itself into her neck. Everyone
became silent.
Hank shrugged and scooped her up. He, Spike, and Xander walked out of the
house. Buffy and company were to shocked to stop them
"Is there anywhere we can go temporarily?" He asked.
"Uh, yeah, my house, I think my parents are gone this weekend," Xander
offered.
"Great. Spike, will you hold Willow while I make a call?" Spike merely
smiled and took her. "Excuse me," Hank brought out his cell phone and
pressed a button. He quietly talked into the receiver for a few minutes, and
joined Spike and Xander at the Harris' front door. "A plane should be here
in a few minutes. We can wait out here."

*Charles Xavier's mansion*
The phone rang and Logan picked it up. "What?"
"Wolverine, will you inform the professor I need the Blackbird at Sunnydale,
CA in five minutes?"
"You drunk, Beast?"
"Not at all. Oh, and if you could bring Jean with you, it would be much
appreciated."
"But!" Hank hung up before Logan could get any more out of him.
"Who was that, Wolverine?" Xavier asked.
"Beast. Says he wants the blackbird in California. He wants Jean there too."
"I suggest we give him what he needs. Cyclops, you will fly the Blackbird.
Wolverine, you will go to insure he is assisted in any combat. Suit up and
go immediately." Scott, Logan, and Jean left the room, the two men grumbling
and complaining.
"What do you think he's up to?" Scott asked.
"Sounds like a girl is involved. I haven't seen him this worked up since
that blind redhead."
"No," Jean added, "He's still too hung up on Carly for a new girlfriend
already."

*Sunnydale, outside the Harris house*
The Blackbird hovered just above the road, and a door opened. Jean was the
first to emerge, and Hank ran to her. Spike, Xander, and Willow followed.
When everyone was seated in the plane, Willow in Spike's lap, Logan sniffed
the air and turned to Spike.
"You're dead," he stated.
Spike nodded. "Get used to it, mate." Willow slapped him lightly.
"Be nice!" She winced at the action, her neck still sore from when Hank had
removed the arrow. "Hank, which one is the doctor? My neck could seriously
use some pain killers right about now."
"Of course, Willow." Hank answered. He reached into Jean's packet and pulled
out some aspirin. By the time Willow had swallowed the tiny pills, they were
already in New York.
"Um, Hank?" Xander asked, waiting until he had the blue mutant's attention.
"Not that I don't trust you, but why are we here?"
"I will explain that to you when we get inside. Why don't you help Willow
and Spike?" Xander took the hint, and draped his arm around his exhausted
friend.
After everyone was gathered in Xavier's office, Hank started the
conversation. "To answer your question, Xander, I brought you here because
it was the only place I could think of. I didn't know if Willow's injuries
were severe or minor, and I knew Jean could clean her up. A hospital was not
such a good idea because her parents could have just picked her up there,
and we would be helpless to stop them. Thankfully hospital attention was
unnecessary. I brought you and Spike not just to support Willow, but to get
you away from those other three. The girl looked like she intended on
killing someone."
"Dis is all nice and evertin' but who are 'dey, Beast?" Remy asked. Willow
started laughing. "Beast? Oh, I get it. I would have said Smurf, maybe. I'm
Willow, and this is Xander and Spike. Who are you all?"
Xavier introduced everyone. "Auroro, Logan, Scott, Jean, Rogue, Remy,
Jubilee, and I am Charles Xavier. May we inquire as to how you met Hank?"
"This is my niece, Professor. My sister's daughter. As you may remember, my
family was very understanding, until Sheila met Ira, who was a member of the
"Friends Of Humanity" group. When I turned blue, that was the final piece
of the puzzle. Willow was forbidden to see me, but she always made time
anyway. I am especially grateful that the Rosenburgs are frequently out of
town."
"And Xander and Spike?"
"Yeah, Spike, you definitely smell dead."
"Logan!" Jubilee scolded. Spike was hot and she didn't want Wolverine being
rude and scaring him off.
"I recently performed an operation on Spike," Hank explained. "Willow's
friends weren't too happy about it, although I still do not understand
why."
"What sort of operation?" Jean asked, curious.
"Only brain surgery. Nothing too dangerous," Spike answered, having fun. It
was more of a freak show than his family! There was the one with weird eyes,
Cyclops, the Cajun with a ponytail; he kept trying to touch Rogue, who would
dodge away from him, the black woman with white hair and eyes, the leader
Xavier; he couldn't walk, Logan with his bizarre hair, and the little girl,
Jubilee.
"Why did you do that? If I remember, Beast, you're no neurologist," Jean
scolded.
"Logan, what would you do if you couldn't push someone, couldn't use your
claws, couldn't do anything harmful" Hank asked.
"I'd go insane," he answered truthfully.
"Exactly. Willow did not wish Spike to "go insane", so I performed a simple
operation to remove the chip that was preventing him from using any form of
violence."
" I see. And her friends were not happy with this?"
"Basically they assumed he would kill them," Willow offered. Logan stared at
the woman. He had smelled Spike's scent all over her, and the same for him,
but he had shrugged it off. She wasn't the blonde's type. Obviously, she
was.
"Would you have killed them?" Jubilee asked, now focusing on the boy,
Xander. If she couldn't have Spike, she'd settle for the other.
"Maybe. If they pissed me off," he said. Willow elbowed him. "Alright, Red.
Probably not, if they asked real nice."
"How does this fit in with you, Beast?" Auroro asked. "Couldn't he have just
gone to a hospital?"
"Not really, he's a vampire," Xander told them, expecting shock and gasps.
Instead, everyone nodded and accepted it. They had seen everything:
dinosaurs, time travelers, what was so different about a vampire?
"If you will excuse us, I know Willow and I are tired, and Spike should
still be resting. Professor, can they use your spare rooms?"
"Of course. Rogue, Gambit, will you show them?" The two nodded, Remy
slipping his arm around the brunette again. She surrendered and leaned her
head against his chest.
Willow nodded to Spike, who had also noticed the attraction between them.
Hank left to his quarters and Xander started making small talk with the two.
"So I'm guessing you're all mutants, too?" Remy smiled. He liked the kid.
"We 'da real 'ting, kid."
"So what can you do?" Xander asked Rogue. She immediately frowned. Willow
slapped him lightly on the head. Hank had spoken about Rogue, feeling a
connection to her, as she was the only other X-men who wanted to be a normal
human. Remy quickly changed the subject.
"You a mutant, cherie?" He gestured to the redhead.
"I have a few tricks," she replied, "But no. That gene skipped my
generation."
"You sure, love?" Spike asked. Her magickal abilities seemed a little like
the other's powers here.
"Spike, don't you think if I had powers they'd have surfaced by now?" Spike
nodded, and they reached their rooms. Willow blushed when she realized she
and Spike would share a room. Remy winked at the blonde, sharing an evil
grin.
Later that night, Willow and Spike were lying in bed, discussing the others.
"We don't have to go back for a while, you know," Willow told him. He raised
an eyebrow at her.
"We're going back?"
" Well, I just thought, well, where do you want to go?" He grinned.
"Ever been to Athens? Or Paris?"
"Really?" When she figured out he wasn't kidding, she continued on, "Xander
can stay here for a while, I know Jubilee has plans for him. Ooh! Project:
How about, until Xander gets settled, we work on someone else?s life for a
change."
"What are you getting at?" Her plans usually ended with trouble.
"Well, you know that Cajun down the hall?"
END.....for now
