Super Mario Advance Impressions
Super Mario Advance lives up to all its NES, GB, SNES and GBC predecessors and adds something new
to Mario. In the first level alone I saw four different types of enemies. One of my favorite qualities in a game SMA had, paralexing backgrounds. This feature
showed off the power of the GBA system. The arcade edition was a fun addition to the game that can keep you
playing for a very long time. A feature that added more variety to the game is the ability to select who
you would play as during that level. Different characters have different special abilities and ratings in different
categories. this game is worth much more than the launch price of $29.99. A must for anyone buying a GBA.
I just got my second try of the game and was able to go farther in it. Amazingly the bosses talked in very
high quality sound. I found out also there are several ways to destroy enemies. Right now I want to emphasize even more
about the ability to select different characters! The first time I played a level I could not jump high enough
to get coins but then when I replayed the level with Luigi, I could easily jump up and get them.
The bosses in SMA are better than ever before, you actually fight them! At the end of the first level you fight Birdo,
how? By jumping on eggs it spits at you while they are still moving and then chucking them back. In the beginning of the second level
I did something I have never done before, hijacking a magic carpet. This is a very cool game.
The arcade Mario was a pleasing extra to the SMA pack. It had very intense fast and furious fun. The Multi-player looks fun,
but unfortunately I wasn't able to try it then but by judging at how good the single player is it makes you want to get a game link
with your system.
