Super Mario Advance Impressions
To tell the truth the only time I played this game was at Walmart. And for only 15 minutes. But still, I did get a feel for the game
The game has two parts. There's the main game, which is essentially Super Mario Bros. 2, just a whole lot better. Than there's the other part of the game which is taken from the original arcade Mario Bros.
First I'll talk about the main game.
From the minute the game starts you'll see some major differences in the game. The graphics have definitely improved since the NES version, although not so much from Mario All-Stars, for the Super NES. But even though the graphics haven't changed that much from All-Stars, the gamesure looks a lot fresher on the small screen.
Another thing you'll notice right away are the voices. Well in Toad's case it's more screaming than speaking. Even the boss's speak.
The main changes though are in the gameplay. Remember the beginning of Super Mario Bros. 2, where your character falls out of the sky into a small area with a door and a few enemies? Well that part's changed. Instead of falling out of the sky, you use clouds as stairsto climb down. Then you climb onto a giant cactus which you use as an elevator to climb up to the door which leads to the first level. Sure it's a little weird but hey? What are you gonna do?
As far as I can see most of the levels haven't changed other than lots of additions like red coins to collect and giant enemies to throw. There's not really that much point but they do make the game more fun.
Now on to the second part of the game. Mario Bros. Classic is a much improved version of the origanal Mario Bros. It now features nice backgrounds, POW blocks that you can pick up and throw and much better controls. The game plays just like Super Mario Bros. 2, so you can pick things up, change direction in mid jump and even do the special super jump by holding down.
Well, that's it. Like I said I only got to play the game for a little while so I didn't get to become too involved. But I did get to see that it's a great game which you should definitely pick up!
