Note for Aug. 13, 00: -I found that Ha Ling Peak is largely a hike with very easy scrambling. The rock is solid and the hike to the summit is not too steep. The view of canmore is incredible. Some rock climbers scale the virtually straight face to reach the summit but we followed the gentle southwest slopes. The route ascends a couple of switchbacks, then goes straight up to the summit via the southwest slopes. The weather was great, with a bit of clouds. The trail was fairly buisy. This is one of the shortest scrambles around, so if your lacking time, bag this peak.

Aug. 13 00- There are very few places you can get such a spectacular view of Canmore than that from the summit of Ha Ling. On a clear day you can see past the valley of Canmore and as far as Mt. Temple. The summit of the peak is on a drop off. However there is very little exposure on the route. |
Aug. 13 00- This is a picture of me (Ian) showing off my muscles on the summit of Ha Ling. The route is not steep for almost all of the climb so it should be summitable by almost anyone. The valley to the left of me carrys on for miles and miles which makes for a nice view. The mountain looks a little more intimidating than it is in our picture at the top. On a clear day you can see to Mount Temple in Lake Louise, so it is an all around easy, fun, and attainable peak with a nice view. |
Aug. 13 00- Here we have Kyle on the summit. The mountain in the backround is Mt. Lawrence Grassi. It can be attained via connecting the ridge from Ha Ling. Although that is going to be a bit tougher than just summiting Ha Ling. You can also ascend Lawrence grassi from the highway, as described in "Scrambles in the Canadian Rockies." |
