Note for June 2, 01: - Me Ian and David left the parking lot at around 10:30. The route is very steep for the whole climb. It gets the leg muscles a good work-out. From the highway it looks like a very easy mountain, but the upper ridge is very difficult. This has been one of favorite scrambles so far. For most of the climb you are walking up the steep, forested part of Lady Macdonald, but the airy summit ridge makes up for all the boredom. To climb Lady Macdonald you will need a windbreaker, water, and an extra pair of undies for the summit ridge!! The route is outlined in the photo above.

Dates Summited -June 2, 01(Kyle and Ian)

Elevation -2605m(8,546Ft.)

Elevation Gain - 1300m

Location - Canmore

June 2, 01- Here is (From left to right) Me, David and Ian. The route on the upper mountain is visible in the background. We are standing on the helicopter launch pad that was built when the tea house was supposed to be. Some company had a plan of making a tea house on the upper mountain, then helicoptering tourists up so they could drink tea and eat snacks that would be sold in the tea house. For some unknown reason, the teahouse was never completed and it still stands there today half finished. The builders never considered to take the tea house back down and instead, it stands there littering the pristine environment.

June 02, 01- After climbing up to the top of the ridge, you are faced with this narrow ridge that leads to the summit that must be traversed. This was the most tense part of the mountain. A fall to the right side of the ridge would probably be deadly because it is straight down. A slip on the left side of the ridge would result in an unforgiving tumble down the mountain. In some places the ridge was only half a foot wide. However, the rock is very solid and if you take it slow, there should be few problems.

June 2, 01- Ride Em' Cowboy! This part of the ridge was so narrow that I had to straddle the ridge and shuffle along. It was fairly uncomfortable, but safer than walking along it. Nothing like a big shot of adrenaline!

June 2, 01- Here is a picture of some Calgarian scramblers we met up with on the ridge. This was the section of downclimbing right after the true summit. This picture was taken on the descent.

May 26, 01- Here I (Kyle) am on the suprisingly roomy summit. The true summit, which I am on, is slightly hidden from the highway. The true summit is only around 10 meters higher than the summit seen from the highway, but because I was having so much fun on the ridge I decided to go to the highest summit. Ian ascended up to the top of the ridge but didn't traverse the ridge to the highest summit.
