Note for August 16, 01: - This was a very hot day. The temperatures got up to above 30C. The views were outstanding. It took us 3 hours and 20 minutes to reach the summit. We met up with a guy named Glen from San Francisco who made it within minutes of the false summit. We carried on to the true summit. It is a definite grunt with boring scrambling but the views are outstanding. I probably wouldn't ever repeat this one.

August 16, 01- After following an old dirt road for around five minutes, it takes a curved 90* angle to the left and you must bushwack for about five minutes until you spot the ascent gully. This is shown in the picture.

August 16, 01- Half way up the mountain you will encounter a rockband. It is pretty minor but the route we took was moderate because we didn't want to waste alot of time searching for the easiest way up. On the way back down I got cut in the hand by a flying plate shaped rock because I got a little bit to curious of what was going on above me.

August 16, 01- Once you make it to the false summit, it takes around ten minutes to hike to the true summit. It looks like it would take alot more effort than it actually does. The cairn and register are at the far end of the ridge.

August 16, 01- Here is a picture of the cornice that sits on the peak year-round. I am the dot with the arrow pointed at me. The melted cornice water makes an excellent change to the warm water in your pack.

Aug 16, 01- Observation Peak held the best view I have experienced yet in the Rockies. The peak itself doesn't look very intimidating but the peaks around it are massive. Here is Ian and I on the summit. I had to sprint in the picture to beat the self-timer!
