Note for July 09, 02: - This was a great day in the mountains. Left the parking lot at shortly after 11:00 a.m. We didn't have a watch the whole climb but we came down around 6:00p.m. Cloudy at noon time but in the afternoon the clouds lifted and we got great views at the summit.

Dates Summited -July 09,02

Elevation -3117m(10,226Ft.)

Elevation Gain - 1260m

Location - Smith Dorrien / Spray Lakes

July 9, 02- This is a waterfall that you have to pass shortly before Rummel Lake. The hike to Rummel Lake takes about an hour and a half. If you get confused about your surroundings dont't mistake Mt. Galatea for Mt. Chester as I did the day before and turned back because I thought I made a wrong turn.

July 9, 02- We didn't have the best weather on this one as you can see. Right before the summit we got a bit off route and got into some difficult rockbands. It spiced things up... maybe a bit too much!

July 9, 02- This is about 2/3rds up the ridge. The lake in the middle of the picture is an unnamed tarn, while the lake to the upper right is Rummel Lake.

July 9, 02- Endless summit views

July 9, 02- Here is Rummel Lake and the Smith-Dorrien valley. The bigger peak on the right is Mt. Birdwood.

July 9, 02- Heres the story behind this one. On the descent I was practicing my self-arrest and I guess I wasn't as good as I thought I was. I ended up crazy carpeting down the slope and I couldn't get my axe dug in. Finally it stuck but I cut my finger open somehow. I'm a true climber here; warrior paint and all.

July 9, 02- What a beautiful way to end off the day. A good day hike would be just coming to the alpine area right below The Tower. The hike out was kind of long and we were happy to be back at the car... until we found the new flat tire.
