Heroes Of Fire

The tone goes off,
All has stopped.
The air fills with anticipation!
Postures stiff, each ear tuned in,
To hear their destination!

Turnouts on, engines revved,
The battle has begun!
Each man in place, and on his face,
The look of wars he has won!

Trucks move out, the engines roar,
All accelerators to the floor!

Sirens screaming through the streets,
Echoing their urgency!
Upon arrival it is clear
This is a great emergency!

Lines roll out,
Supply lines on,
Pressure is at its best!

The fight has begun,
The fire is hot,
Each man is put to the test!

Scorching heat engulfs the rooms,
Fire bursts all around!
The smoke is dark and air is thick
From ceiling to the ground!

Each brave warrior knows his task,
His mission is the same!
To fight this blazing enemy,
This dragon made of flame!

Streaming jest of water gush,
Each aim is on the mark!
Dragon slayers swing to and from,
In search of every spark!

Steam weights the air all around.
Debris lies soaking on the ground.

The scene is still, no fire in sight.
They've worked and fought into the night.

Each man is worn, some cut, some bruised,
Every muscle, tired and used.
Their battle fought, they walk away.
Each to fight another day!

Back at the "House" they'll reminisce,
Upon the work they've done.

But in the end, each will admit,
They're boys just havin' fun!!
