Custom Rock Sliders - 01/2003

Edited on 2/11/2004 to update broken pic links and add a few photos of upgrade.

Well, I was sick of having way to many twisted dreams of the many steel accessories and armor that could be built for my truck. Knowing I could never count on others to build them all for me, I decided to buy a Welder.

For my first project I decided to build some Rock sliders. So I called John from the steel yard and asked him what I needed, took the welder out of the box, practiced for a few hours, and then went to town. I used Datz510, SlackerX, Shad, and Robs sliders as examples and went from there. Here are pics throught the process and the final product.

One of the maiden welds.

Supports and end-caps welded on.Notice the brand new welder box in the background.

Painted.

Welded Plates on.

Used a high lift to hold it up and a few C clamps to hold in place.

Plate welded to the frame.

Here they are on the truck.

Testing them out, the rear tire is just a hair off the ground.

They work, didn't budge at all(just flex a tiny bit)... so I am happy with my first project.

Here is a link to an add on I did to the sliders in September 2003...
