Geography

Bintulu is located at the equatorial area so the weather here is hot and rainy all year long.

• It means the temperature is about 27°C - 28°C.

• The favourable tropical climate accounts for the lush greenery and profusion of tropical blooms in a riot of colours.

• It is situated near the coastline and there are two rivers flowing in Bintulu, Sungai Sebiew and Sungai Kemena.

Economy

The economy of Bintulu is based on the heavy industries.

• The heavy industrial area is situated at Tanjung Kidurong, somewhere near the Bintulu Port.

• The heavy industries include ABF (ASEAN Bintulu Fertilizer), MLNG (Malaysia Liquid Natural Gas), BCOT (Bintulu Crude Oil Terminal) and SMDS (Shell Middle Distillate Synthesis).

• The light industrial area is located near the town.

• There are six main areas in Bintulu. They are the Bintulu Town, Medan Jaya, Tanjung Batu, Tanjung Kidurong, Parkcity and the newly built Citypoint.
