Development to Kampung Jepak

 

In the most of development, the welfare of the fishermen is also being taken care of. As a group that is involved in the traditional industry which had exist before Bintulu stepped into the oil and gas industry their place has to be taken care of. To push aside any uncertainty the BDA has areated the fishermen village project. The project base is located opposite Sg. Kemena in front of Pasar Bintulu. The main aim of this project is to relocate about 300 fishermen that is involved in the project of expanding Bintulu town. Besides that it is also meant to increase the fishermen lifestyles by preparing all kinds of fishing facilities for them. Among the facilities are: -jetty –cold storage -fuel station

Commom facilities such as water, electricity and road have been facilitated in the fishing village. For the first phase, 13 area has been allocated to built 53 unit of houses. The building of the 2nd phase will depend on the fishermen's reaction towards the first phase. The project started in early 1991 and completed after two years time. The project maintenance for phase 1 cost about RM736,150.
