Jonathan Cheechoo in the Hall
Great Honor
On March 15th, 2001, Jonathan Cheechoo was honored as a Hockey Hall of Fame inductee in an on-ice ceremony following a game in Lexington, Ky. He was selected to represent the Thoroughblades and, of course, because he is the first Moose Cree First Nations Member ever to sign an NHL contract. On this day, he was joined by his parents, Carol and Mervin, along with Phil Pritchard, curator of the Hall, and Thoroughblades owners. His jersey is now displayed in the Hall of Fame along with other great legends, which his name will undoubtedly be compared with in the near future!
