Step 4

.
Step 4.  Lower the 2.8 in the car.  The motor mounts holes won't line up perfact.  You need to do some wigglin around to get it go go in.  I used crow bar, and a 3lb mini sledge.  Get a floor jack that has wheels and jack up the tailstock of the tranny.  It'll just slide right down into place.

Here is the 2.8 going into place. Have a friend sit on the windshield and push the tail stock down with his/her foot.  It makes it alot easier.

You can see the engine mount bolts in place.  It's an easy bolt in.

For hood clearence

To obtain you need to cut away some of the foam insulation and cut out the center brace. I also took out the little 1/8th inch rubber gasket type thinger on top of the carb.  I'm sure when you tighten down the carb, and tighten down the air cleaner lid it will smash stuff down a little bit.    Check out the pictures below.

Cut away some of the insulation and carefully take a grinder and cut away the center brace on the hood.   I used a big 7" grinder to grind away the center brace and only made one mark the hood where the paint melted away.  You can see where the air cleaner hits the hood.  I pouned the air cleaner lid down a little bit to clear, cause the motor will flex a little bit.

Here is the motor bolted in.  The only time it will be pulled out agian is when it gets rebuilt.  With littler bigger cam, head work.  The aircleaner is from a citation.  The only fabrication to the air cleaner was a little "denting" of the lid.

Here it is.  The sleeper that i dreamed of.  It's all under the hood. Looks like your everyday Chevette.  Can't wait to fire it up.
