Exhaust
Here is the Y pipe that I had made for me. Metzler's
Garage & Muffler Center made the Y pipe,
installed it, and connected it to the existing exhaust. This guy
is the best around that I know of and is reasonable.
This is the passenger side
exhaust. There is plenty of room for exhaust to go down through.
The guy at the exhaust shop was smart enough to not dump it right beside
the starter, instead he ran it far enough away so it doesn't get heat soaked.
Here is the drivers side,
you can see he also put it far enough away from the fuel lines also.
I still might wrap the lines just to be safe, and to prevent vapor lock.
The 2.8 was made for the chevette. This guy did one heck of a job.
Here you can see how
it all goes together. The Y pipe is 2 inch comming off the manifold
and that goes into 2.25 inch. What I need to do now is take it back
out when i get some money, and have him throw on 2.25 inch all the way
out the back. Because it's a stock Chevette exhaust from the
Y pipe back through the muffler. It's probably choaking out some
what.
Here is how
close everything is. You can also see how well the chevette alternator
bracket works with the v6.
This is the fan from an 80's
style cavalier. It runs a little warm. But I still have the
195 degree stat in it.
Well this is pretty much everything you need to do to have yourself
your very own 2.8 powered chevette. Of course there is some small
stuff I didn't cover. And there is alot of bugs to work
out. All I care about right now is that it fires up when i turn the
key and that it goes when I step on the gas. And boy does it go.
Alot faster than a Chevette 1.6
